HUNTER

Yes! HUNTER is finally in my collection! Now I’m not much for using all capitals to express my emotional state, but in this case I think I can get away with it, because that’s just the way it’s printed on the box.

Hunter is a game from 1991 that I played on my Amiga 500 back in the early nineties. I have vivid memories of the experience. Its an early 3D game in which you play as a soldier behind enemy lines. You’re on an island and you can go into buildings, get into vehicles to get around the island, or go to other islands. And there are a lot of them. Some tiny, some bigger. There are all kinds of vehicles. The manual talks about trucks, cars, ambulances, tanks, rowing boat, hovercraft, helicopters, windsurfers and MANY OTHERS THAT YOU WILL DISCOVER AS YOU GO ALONG…. Once again, not my caps.

Looking back at my gaming history in which I played a lot of 3D sandbox rpg/action adventure games, it’s not hard to see Hunter was one of the first of these kinds of games. I’m glad to have it in my collection.

Oh, I almost forgot: I also picked up Starship Titanic, an adventure game that has Douglas Adams’ name written in big letters on the front of the box. And Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (In Several Wrong Places) for the Amiga. Now I know I said that I’m not very interested in collecting the Larry games and I already have the Big Box Leisure Suit Larry Collection in my collection. But I couldn’t resist a good deal.
