Picked up a Dutch text-adventure from 1985 and a German new-old-stock rpg from 1995

A Commodore 64 enthousiast from the Netherlands should have a game from Dutch developer John Vanderaart in his collection. In keeping with the focus of my games collection on (text-)adventures and rpg’s, I got a copy of De Sekte(The Sect…) from 1985. According to the front cover it is a Electronic Novel (Elektronische Roman) and it’s the first in a series. Wikipedia lists a couple of other text-adventures from Radarsoft, like Nachtwacht and Horror Hotel.

The manual has a fun description of the way to play these kind of games. You have to read, think (your brain takes over), make connections, formulate and type. I think that I get it…

The Amiga was quite big in Germany so it’s not surprising that there are a lot more German games for the system than Dutch ones. One such game is Jaktar: der Elfenstein. I was browsing the amigashop website and noticed this game being sold. Apparently it’s new-old stock, meaning this game has been sitting on the shelf for 31 years! That in itself was reason enough for me to get a copy. Another reason was the excellent music.
The packaging has a similar feeling to it as Legend of Falconia, another obscure German game, although that’s an adventure game and not an rpg like Jaktar
