With the arrival of A New Spring, the Wheel of Time series is now complete. I started with The Eye of the World in January 2025 and 15 months later all 15 books are accounted for. I’m itching to start another re-read of the whole series, even though I’ve re-read them only a couple of years ago and I’m still bummed that they cancelled the tv-series.
Now I’m switching to completing the hardcover Discworld series. With the most recent addition being the 14th book, Lords and Ladies, I still have 26 books to get. That’s more than two years of getting one book every month. Wow!
And there are also the pocket editions. That situation is exactly the opposite: I have 26 of them, so 14 remain. That’s creepily weird! I only pick those up when I encounter them at second hand stores or when I do a random search on the local online marketplace, so that could also take quite a while.
Which other book series should I get? I already have nice versions of the first three Dune books and the Lord of the Rings books. I’m tempted to get the Foundation and Robots books by Asimov, but I haven’t found nice releases yet and I have some really nice old pockets. Then there’s the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I have a nice hardcover version of the first book, but haven’t found equally nice versions of the following books in the series. And I’m not a big fan of the rest of the series anyway. I’m in two minds about the Game of Thrones books, because I have the original pocket editions and the series is unfinished. Maybe the Malazan books, but those hardcovers look expensive.
There are also space considerations. I really don’t have much. So I think I’ll once again decide that I won’t be collecting many more books and focus on games instead.
