I keep changing my mind about what to do with my Amiga 1200 case. Now I’ve gone and put my MiSTer in. After I bought an Atlantis board to put it in a Mini-ITX case, I tried to make a clean solution to put a Raspberry Pi in the case. But even with the help of special 3D printed brackets, the result left something to be desired. I guess I’m not very good at making things tidy myself. Enter the MiSTress 1200 I/O board from 8bits4ever. It’s a very clean solution that fits perfectly inside the A1200 case.
What I especially like about it is the out-of-the-box solution for remapping the F12 key to the Help+F10 combination. I also have a few minor niggles: The cpu fan connector is too far from the DE10 Nano to connect the Noctua fan that’s quieter than the standard fan. And the backplate for the I/O-board doesn’t fit. Maybe I can get one that does.
After struggling once again with all the ini-settings to get a nice picture (I keep getting confused by all of them, and looking at all the questions people have online, I’m definitely not the only one), I now have a few nice working setup once again.
The biggest let-down right now is the whole spacebar situation. I’ve put in new keycaps from A1200.net (just a regular set at the moment, because the special edition I backed/pledged wasn’t being made available after all – years ago). And they all fit except the spacebar. My keyboard, although supported, has a round stem while it needs to be more square. Even filing down the plastic of the new spacebar doesn’t help. And I even can’t get the original spacebar to function properly anymore.
A situation that hopefully will be resolved once I get a nice mechanical keyboard from A1200.net. Let’s hope they’ll face less issues with getting that product out of the door than the cases/keycaps products.

I quick test with Pjusk with the same “The Arcade” joystick that’s connected to my Amiga 500 and everything seems to work fine.
I also tried to hook up an old school CRT VGA monitor, but the Minimig core doesn’t seem to like that. That’s too bad.
