Random additions: Commandos, Windows 98, The Stand on VHS and Cd’s

Some random additions. Amongst them Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty. I see this game being offered every so often and I knew that I would buy it someday, and now was the time. I loved the original Commandos game and I’ve never played these additional scenario’s. I believe it wasn’t reviewed as well as the original game, but it’s enough if I play it just one time on a rainy afternoon. And who knows, maybe I’ll like it. It’s certainly nice to have it in the collection.

What’s also nice to have is a boxed copy of Windows 98. A while ago, I bought Windows 95. This box isn’t as nice as that one. But I don’t have space enough to show it properly anyway, so I’ll just put it somewhere where it isn’t very noticeable. Although I probably used Windows 98(SE) more than Windows 95, I have more nostalgia for 95 anyway. It just made such an impact to move away from DOS at the time. Theming it up, and all that.
The same seller also had a nice little folio release of MS-DOS 6.22 upgrade. I put it for decoration on the side of my 486DX-66 that sits under my desk.

Then I went to a thrift shop this morning and finally found the double CD Alchemy from Dire Straits. One of my favorite live performances. They also had Love over Gold, which I didn’t have yet. That’s the first CD from Dire Straits I heard at a friend’s house when I was a kid. And I picked up Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Not my favorite Beatles album, but the first one to own. Now I just need The White Album and Abbey Road.

Thrift shops don’t have many VHS tapes anymore. I’m probably just one or two years too late for that. I remember them having loads not to long ago. Not that I want many of them. But it’s nice to have a few. This shop only had one (besides a couple of Disney movies) and that was Stephen King’s The Stand. I believe I just saw this movie one time. So I’d love to have another one. And now I can. I must say that the image quality is pretty good.
