My racing games collection is already quite complete with bangers like Super Cars, Super Hang-On, Stunt Car Racer and Pitstop amongst many others. One of my absolute favorite series is Lotus, especially the first two games. I’ve had both in my collection for quite some time now. The third game is no slouch either. But that one has eluded me. Until now that is.

I played the hell out of the first Lotus game together with my best friend. He also got an Amiga, after he saw it at my house. He upgraded from a Sharp Mz-700. Some upgrade! So we could play Lotus at his house as well as mine. It got played almost as much as Kick-Off 2.

After Lotus 1 came Lotus 2. We were both a little disappointed because we couldn’t race laps against each other. In time I got to love it almost as much as the first game, but we didn’t play it as much together as that one.

Not long before I sold my Amiga for a PC, I also played Lotus III. I thought it was fun, but it didn’t make much of an impact. I also played the PC version at some point, which was a bit crap.

The copy I bought now is certainly not pristine. The box is a bit warped, probably due to water damage. But it’s good enough for me. Sometimes I think of myself as a caretaker of old and decrepit games…
