The Witness

Every once in a while, I like to add another Infocom game to my collection. I’m still missing quite a few so searching for a deal is quite doable. This time Ebay showed me a reasonable priced version of The Witness. Sadly most games are sold in the US and shipping prices are way higher than they were years ago. So, you have to take that into account. All in all, the total cost of this purchase were not too ridiculous.

The game is physically in reasonable good shape. There is some wear and tear around the edges, a mark from a price sticker on the front and a little grubbiness on the back, that hopefully can be cleaned up.
Inside there’s a variety of items enclosed: the usual Infocom cards, an Atari reference card, because it’s the Atari 8-bit version, a short letter on stationary paper, a telegram, an A3 side newspaper, a Nat’l Detective Gazette magazine and a matchbook, as well as the floppy disk. Certainly enough to set the mood and to use while playing the game.

This folio release is a great addition to the other folios I have for Planetfall and Infidel. While those folios are a bit more elaborate with pockets for the different items, the feelies for The Witness are all housed in a simple brown enveloppe. I bit boring perhaps, but it’s also less likely that items fall out. I like it!
