Discworld reading snob

Every now and again I like picking up a Discworld pocket to recollect the whole series as I had when they came out (although I had the first twelve books up until Witches Abroad bundled in four omnibusses). I love the artwork on the covers and they have nostalgic value for me.

But when it comes to reading, I don’t particularly like them. The font is too small to comfortably read with my ageing eyes and because they’re secondhand, they often are a bit worn and smelly. I know I can get new ones, but they are slightly different from the original releases that I had because they went back and changed the layout to match the later releases with artwork from Paul Kidby. The earlier books have artwork from Josh Kirby (I always have to look that up. Who could imagine two different artist for the same series with such almost but not quite the same names.)

While both great artists, and I appreciate that they went back and rereleased the earlier books to match the newer style, I like to have the ones I originally had.
So when I saw that they have these really nice looking new hardcovers for really cheap, I decided to get a few of them. They don’t disappoint. The covers are awesome and they offer a nicer reading experience than the pockets do. I’m becoming a reading snob!
