2 down, 2 to go

Finishing Warlock’s Tower proved to be too great a test of my 12 year old son’s patience. Especially the last level has you try lots and lots of different approaches and he lost interest after about fifteen minutes of starting over. I went on alone and told him about the twist at the end and he laughed about that, but even he couldn’t be bothered to grind the last couple of levels we hadn’t completed yet.

I had the same feeling after finishing Soko Banana at 084%. I watched the ending and felt satisfied enough to leave it like that and move on. I got to be mindful of my time as still have to go on with the other 2 games I have been playing: VirtuaVerse and Escape from Monkey Island.

I have made some progress in VirtuaVerse. The puzzles proved a bit too difficult for me, so I toned down the difficulty. That’s better for making progress, but it’s quite obvious which puzzles have been scaled down, which is a bit yarring. I’ve now reached two other locations and the end goal is clear. The way the story got explained all in one big conversation was a bit unsatisfying. It would have been more interesting if the player found about what’s at stake more incrementally. But maybe there will be some nice surprises still and if there aren’t then at least the environments are interesting to look at.
