A proper Night Mission Pinball

Remember when I was glad to have a copy of Night Mission Pinball for my collection? And how that was a special exemplar, because it looked like someone had made the inlay themselves? Well now I have a proper “big” box copy also.

Night Mission Pinball was developed by Bruce Artwick in 1982 and published by subLOGIC in 1983. If I subLOGIC was primarily known for their Flight Simulator series. Flight simulators often come in big boxes with thick manuals and they also did that when they released pinball games apparently.
It comes with a manual that counts 24 pages. Quite a lot for such a relatively simple game. The “Adjustment Manual for Night Mission Pinball” describes how the thirty-eight parameters control the characteristics of the game. I think I only just played the game without ever fiddling with the controls. But now I’m curious and want to try them out! There’s even a “cosmic mode”!

A game from 1982 is a lot simpler to control than a game from 2024 with 20-button controller

Now I definitely want a big box version of my other favorite C64 pinball games: David’s Midnight Magic!
