Sometimes there are classic games that you almost feel guilty about not having played. One such game for me was Baldur’s Gate, which I only played for the first time a couple of years ago. Back in the day, I made a conscious decision that I didn’t want to play it. I was busy playing other games. And for some reason, despite all the praise it got and the fact that I like rpg’s,the game didn’t appeal to me.
Another such game is Wing Commander. I’ve never played it. But that was not due to any conscious decision. I simply didn’t have access to the game back when it was released. When the first game came out, I was still using my Amiga. And I almost only played copied games that I got from classmates. That meant that I only played games that circulated among schoolmates and Wing Commander simply wasn’t one of them.
Now there’s time to correct that. I already had a copy of Wing Commander III in my collection. But that I also haven’t played yet. And now I have a copy of the first game as well. Although it’s the IBM version, I think I’ll first play it on the Amiga before trying it out on the PC with real Midi music.
