I’ve grown tired of the MiSTer stack with all it’s ugly connections sticking out. Maybe that’s because I never bought an actual case for it. But it’s time for something else. The MiSTer Multisystem is a nice solution, but I went for a cheaper one, namely the ATLANTIS.
ATLANTIS is a mini-ITX to ATX carrier board for the MiSTer. It has connections for either a ATX power supply or an extetnal DC power supply. You can mount an IO board beside it, or something like a Raspberry Pi. And it has connections for a power switch on your case.

I went for a complete solution including a mini-ITX case, standoffs, a ribbon cable for the IO board, an IO shield and some nice real wood stickers, although I made a mistake and only ordered one of those stickers instead of two. That led me to put the sticker on the front of the case where I’ll probably see more of it anyway than on the sides. I like it!
Putting everything inside the case proved to be quite finnicky, but I succeeded after a couple of tries. I also ordered a USB hub that fits inside. I realized that there’s no place for the fan anymore. I hope that’s not going to be a problem. I’ve put the WiFi adapter and the 8BitDo receiver inside. Sadly, the WiFi adapter again stopped working, or maybe I didn’t manage to fix it the last time, I don’t remember. That’s really unfortunate and proves once again that the MiSTer is great, but it’s not a finished product. You have to keep solving problems if you want to get the most out of it.
I’m really happy with the looks of my MiSTer setup now.
