Early Christmas present

The unexpected end-of-year-bonus from a client has been put to good use with a significant addition to the Evercade collection.

It’s difficult to keep up with all the new releases when they put out two carts at the same time. I sort of get it with the Duke Nukem collections, but the other two could have been released more spread out. Especially because now I have a big backlog of Evercade games to play, while previously I pretty much managed to keep up.

I’ve started with the game I’ve been looking forward to the most and that is Witch n’ Wiz. I know it’s not the popular choice. Most reviewers I’ve seen were more excited about the other game on the cart, Goodboy Galaxy. While I’m definitely looking forward to playing that game, I’m first going to play WnW.

I’ve already played Witch n’ Wiz a couple of times on Pico-8. It reminds me of the good time I had with Millie and Molly on the C64. It’s the only game of these carts that has a very nice poster. Although it’s so sharply folded that you cannot keep it unfolded. Maybe it will stay flat if I leave it for a week under a really heavy book like the excellent The Art of the Box. But where do I keep it then? I should have a frame that can easily switch between posters. For now I’m thinking about using an old iPad like a digital photoframe.
