The CLZ Games app shows me that the platform I have the most physical games for is Windows/DOS with 298 mostly big boxes. The Commodore 64 and the Amiga follow with both around 65 games, and after that the Lynx with 43 mostly loose carts and the PS4 with also 43 games. For other platforms I have significantly less games for, like the Wii U, Atari ST and Nintendo 64. And there are four platforms that I have only one game for. Those are MSX, Mac, Atari 400/800 and PlayStation 5.
With a recent pick-up, that number rises to five. The new platform is the VIC-20. The game is Realms of Quest, and it’s not one game, but four! And as a bonus there’s also a C64 game in the box.
The artwork on the box is absolutely gorgeous. That’s one of the reasons I picked it up in the first place. No doubt I was inspired by a book that’s currently on my coffee tabel: The Art of the Box. I’ve been reading a chapter every few days lately.
Now I have to put the fifth game in the Realms of Quest series on my wishlist. I remember seeing it in the Psytronik shop a few years ago, but I didn’t pick it up then. I’m sure it will turn up someday. In the meantime, I will have many hours to spend on these games. Time to pull the The C64 Maxi of its shelf!
