Retro games hunting in the USA

I’m back from a holiday in the USA. I spent the last three weeks traveling around the west coast with my family. It has been almost twenty years since I visited and it was a great experience seeing all the sights again andbl sharing that with the children. Both the cities and the national parks. One of the things I was looking forward to was visiting used book stores and retro game shops. We visited both in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and in some small towns.

I got lucky in Retro City Games in Las Vegas and bought the folio version of Planetfall there for 25 dollars. It has a tear in the front, but that doesn’t really bother me. Also the pass is missing. Luckily, I have that already in the grey box release. It looks very cool atop the bookcase with the row of Infocom games that are living on its top shelf.

I also got a copy of Questron II for 25 dollars. And a small box version of Oblivion that looks nice next to all my other Elder Scrolls games.

The first store i visited had a nice selection of PS4 games. It had a modestly priced version of Divinity Original Sin and of Risen. I passed up on those because it was at the very beginning of our trip. I wish I hadn’t though.

Other shops didn’t have anything that I was looking for. The last shop, a CEX, had an SSI gold box game, but not the one I was looking for. Imagine how cool it would have been if it was though.

I’m happy with what I managed to pick up. I wish we had more stores in my neighborhood.
