I think I knew that I would eventually play Yooka-Laylee, because I loved Banjo-Kazooie back in the day. So when I saw this on a discount in the PlayStation store I didn’t hesitate and bought it for the kids… right. Although they do like it, it’s a bit too difficult for them. The precise movements take some time to get used to and I can see why the sometimes frustrating camera movement is widely criticized. Also, the fact that there is a lot of dialogue, and that it is only in English prove too big a barrier for the kids. So, it turns out that they are content to watch me play and point things out to me. And I really enjoy it. Some puzzles require some time to figure out or require at least a couple of tries. And with that Yooka-Laylee provides just the right amount of challenge to want to come back to it for relatively short play sessions.
